Darren Hayes: This Delicate Mix We've Made

Darren Stanley Hayes (born May 8, 1972) is an Australian singer-songwriter. Hayes; first debut as an artiste was back in 1996 as the frontman and singer of the pop duo Savage Garden, whose 1997 album "Savage Garden" propelled them to stardom. The duo followed the success of their debut album with Affirmation (1999), and sold more than 23 million albums worldwide before parting ways in 2001.
Hayes released his first solo album "Spin" in 2002. The album sold two million copies worldwide, debuted at #2 in the UK album charts and spawned the hit single "Insatiable". Hayes' second solo album "The Tension and the Spark" marked a big change of direction for the singer-songwriter, showing him experimenting with electronica and darker lyrics.
Hayes parted way with his record company in 2006 and started his own independent record label Powdered Sugar, from which he would release his third solo album "This Delicate Thing We've Made" (2007). This megamix is specially dedicated to Dave Conner.

Hmmmm..thats a hardy..to best answer this I looked at my cd collection to see who I had the most of... Madonna won, followed by Pet Shop Boys, Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue and Whitney Houston. My current fav cd's are Aleesha Dixon, V.V. Brown and Whitney Houston's I look to you album.

As I wrote this, Madonna - Music (Dens54's Vite Fait Remix).

Which is your most favourite DJ ExMen mix?
I would have to say Cathy Dennis and Deborah Cox.

If you can have dinner with anyone famous, who would it be?

Perth, Western Australia. Wish it was New York..but realistically it's going to be Perth..maybe Sydney.

If you only have one day left to live what would you do?
Make love to my partner, take my dog to the beach and let her go nuts chasing the birds, get drunk with my closest friends, eat chocolate, tell the people I love that I love them and thank them for loving me.

We have noticed that a few of you have been rating most of our mixes with 1 stars .. which actually means it was a BAD mixset. This is a bit disheartening to us coz we spend a considerable amount of time and effort doing these megamixes (besides our day time jobs). As you all know, even though this blog is our hobby, we take it rather seriously and have always strived to provide fresh updates every few days for free downloading for all.

So... for the visitor from Chicago, and a few others who have rated many of our mixes with only 1 star, please tell us why, and how we can improve. We would love to hear from you. And yes, we know it's only a music blog, and not all our mixes may be down your alley, but we do appreciate some constructive criticism instead of some blanket dismissal of our work with no comments or explanation.

Roxette: Fun In The Sun

Roxette is a Swedish pop music duo, consisting of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. They enjoyed worldwide success, from the late 1980s until the mid 1990s, gaining nineteen UK Top 40 hits and four US #1 singles with, "The Look", "Listen to Your Heart", "It Must Have Been Love" and "Joyride". Two further singles "Dangerous" and "Fading Like a Flower" hit #2. The constant flow of hit singles and albums have resulted in staggering record sales of about 55 million albums and 20 million singles.
The urban legend was that when the third single from "Look Sharp", "The Look" became another Top 10 success in their home country in 1988, Roxette were still unknown internationally. It was while studying in Sweden, that an American exchange student from Minneapolis, Dean Cushman, heard "The Look", and brought a copy of Look Sharp! home for the 1988 holiday break. He gave the album to a Minneapolis radio station, KDWB 101.3 FM. The station started playing "The Look" and based on positive caller feedback, the song became very popular, and quickly spread to other radio stations. The song became a radio hit before any Roxette product had been commercially released or promoted in the US market. The story was covered by radio, newspapers and TV in the US and in Sweden, making for good press for many years, with Gessle telling this as the story which highlighted the beginning of their international success. Sophie Ellis-Bextor Hips & Lips Mix

Sophie Michelle Ellis-Bextor (born 10 April 1979) is a multi-platinum selling English singer-songwriter and model. Her music is a mixture of mainstream Pop, Disco, Nu-Disco, and 1980s electronic influences. Ellis-Bextor began her musical career in 1997, with an indie band called "theaudience". She sang the lead vocal in the band but in December 1998 the band split up. In 2000, Ellis-Bextor collaborated with Italian DJ Spiller on adding vocals to his club track "Groovejet" which entered the U.K. charts at No. 1. In 2001, Ellis-Bextor released her debut album, "Read My Lips". It reached No. 2 on the UK charts giving us hits like "Take Me Home", "Murder on the Dancefloor", "Music Gets the Best of Me", etc. She released her 2nd ablum "Shoot from the Hip"on Oct 2003, and her 3rd album, "Trip the Light Fantastic"on 21 May, 2007. Elton John Sleeping With The Past Mix

John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on 25 March 1947. He started playing the piano at the age of 3. At the age of 15, He became a weekend pianist at the nearby Northwood Hills pub, playing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. In 1964, John and his friends formed a band called Bluesology. By day, he ran errands for a music publishing company; he divided his nights between solo gigs at a London hotel bar and working with Bluesology. In the spring of 1970, he released his first self title album "Elton John" and "Your Song" made the U.S. Top Ten.

Shock!ng P!nk Megam!x! I just love it! And i "need" another P!nk great megamix! Done by you!

If you can have dinner with anyone famous, who would it be?
Tina Turner. I think i would be disappointed with Madonna. I prefer to idealize the woman.

What you the 3 things you can't leave your home without?
Some CDs, always; my cell phones (2) and my wallet.

What are the 3 brands (of anything) that you like most?
Sony, Martini (lol) and...Viennetta...i think (Difficult one, i really think i don't have a favourite brand).

What was the last country/city that you visited and where would you like to go next?
I visited Prague (Czech Republic); Would love to go next to Egypt, Greece or Mexico.

Remembering Stephen Patrick David Gately

Stephen Patrick David Gately (17 March 1976 – 10 October 2009) was an Irish pop singer, songwriter and actor, who, with Ronan Keating, was one of two lead singers in the boy band Boyzone. With Boyzone, Gately had a record-breaking sixteen consecutive singles enter the top five of the UK Singles Chart. After the band's initial breakup, Gately went on to appear variously in stage productions and on television programmes as well recording further solo material. In 2000, he released a debut solo single titled New Beginning and later a debut solo album of the same name. In 2008, he rejoined his bandmates as Boyzone reformed for a series of concerts and recordings.
On 16 June 1999, UK’s The Sun newspaper covered its front page with what it described as a "World Exclusive" and the headline, "Boyzone Stephen: I'm gay and I'm in love". At the age of 23 then, Gately also revealed that in 1998 he had started a relationship with the then 27 year-old Eloy de Jong, who had been in the Dutch boy band Caught in the Act. Gately and de Jong split up in January 2002. After remaining single for a while, Gately started dating internet businessman Andrew Cowles, who had been introduced to him by mutual friends Elton John and David Furnish. Gately and Cowles held a commitment ceremony in a wedding chapel whilst on holiday in Las Vegas in 2003. On 19 March 2006, Gately entered into a civil partnership with Cowles in a ceremony in London. The cause of his death while holidaying in Majorca, Spain on 10 Oct 2009 remains unknown at time of print.

Deborah Cox Absolutely Beautiful!!

Deborah Cox is a Canadian R&B singer-songwriter and actress. She started off by singing for TV commercials at age 12, and entered various talent shows with the help of her mother. In the early '90s, she performs as a backup vocalist for Celine Dion for six months. After receiving many rejection letters from Canadian record labels, Cox moved to Los Angeles, California in 1994 with producer and songwriting partner, Lascelles Stephens. In 1995, label executive Clive Davis signed Cox to Arista Records, and she released her self-titled debut album the same year. In 1998, Cox released her 2nd album "One wish" and The first single from that album, "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here", spent 14 weeks at #1 on the Hot R&B charts in the USA, as well as 8 consecutive weeks at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. LeAnn Rimes is an American singer-songwriter and actress, best known for her work in country music. Rimes made her breakthrough into country music in 1996, with her album Blue which reached Number 1 on the Top Country Albums chart and was certified "multi-platinum" in sales. Rimes went more towards country pop material after releasing her sophomore studio effort in 1997, You Light up My Life: Inspirational Songs. In summer 2009, Rimes announced plans for a new studio album to be released later in 2009, early 2010. New songs that have been confirmed tracks are, "You've Ruined Me", "God Takes Care of Your Kind", "Criminal" and "Better Off". Young Divas The Pop Princesses

Young Divas are a multi-platinum selling Australian girl group currently consisting of previous Australian Idol contestants. The original line up consisted of Season 1 finalist Paulini Curuenavuli, Season 2 finalist Ricki-Lee Coulter, Season 3 winner Kate DeAraugo and Season 3 runner up Emily Williams. By early 2007 rumours were spreading that band member Ricki-Lee was not getting along with other members of the band and was planning to leave the group and true enough she left the group on 22 Jun 2007 to persue her solo career. Ricki-Lee was replaced by Season 4 runner up Jessica Mauboy. In Nov 2007, they released their second album "New Attitude". Sadly on 24 Aug 2008 it was officiall announced that founding member Paulini Curuenavuli and newest Diva Jessica Mauboy had both decided to leave the group in order to concentrate more solidly on their solo careers. Their places are yet to be filled. This megamix is specially dedicated to Brandon Chen.
